| When we
talk about our roots, we usually refer to our racial or ethnic backgrounds.
Such roots say something about who we are, but they do not define us on our
deepest level.
On the deepest level, the roots of all of us are
the same; they are in God.
Each one of us can trace his or her roots back to
the one who gave everyone the gift of life and the power to love.
We are created by God in His image and we are
sustained by His love. Because of our common heritage, we are all brothers
and sisters, joined together by a sharing of the Divine Life that live
within each of us and makes us one.
Such is our dignity, a dignity that flows from
our roots in God. Nothing more profound than this can be said about us. |
