| We can never command
God to come into our lives, but we can create an inner space that makes it
possible for us to notice who is already there.
How can
that be done?
Perhaps the most meaningful way is to accept the present
moment with love, and, after doing our best, to avoid craving for things to be
other than they are.
We would still work for what is good and just, but there would
be a calm acceptance of the results, no matter how meagre or disappointing.
Such an attitude would leave us free, open, and uncluttered.
The mind would be still, and in the calmness, there would be a greater awareness
of the presence of God, with the strength for new beginnings.
When we accept the results of what we do, we might be free,
unencumbered and will not drown the awareness of God's presence through our
dissatisfaction and noisy cravings. |
