Of green colour, or
light cream, yellow cream or muddy black, but without lustre, this gem was very
popular among the Chinese in ancient times. It is of two types. Jadeite and
Nephrite. The former is the silicate of sodium and aluminium, and the latter is
silicate of calcium and magnesium. It can be fruitfully used as protection
against accidents, diseases, witchcraft and epilepsy. It gives strength to
lungs, heart and vocal organs. It is recommended for those who have allergies
and skin disorders. It is supposed to give long life and a peaceful end to the
