A powerful encryption scheme based on
principles of public key cryptography. Developed by Ron Rivest, Adi
Shamir and Leonard Adelman (on whose names the abbreviation is based) at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (mit) in 1977, rsa is
probably the most widely used security algorithm of its kind. It is included
in many commercial products, including those developed by Microsoft,
Netscape and lotus. |
