Portable Document Format, an invention of
Adobe Systems designed for distributing documents electronically. PDF
files can contain original fonts, graphics and other design elements that
faithfully record the layout of the original. They can even contain audio
and video sequences. Pdf is especially suitable for distributing
documents by e-mail, as it requires the creation of one extremely cheap
electronic file rather than the expensive printing of hundreds of paper
versions. The pdf specification is open, and many programs can now
create and view such files. |
