A page inserted into structure of a
website that displays an advertisement or other form of promotion. When
visitors click on a link, the interstitial page pops up for a few
second before taking them to the page they intended to view. Some sites
force users to endure interstitial pages before the home page loads,
either for creative effect or to maximise exposure to an advertisement which
can be sold for much more money than typical banner. Poor site design
has occasionally resulted in interstitial pages leading directly on to other
interstitial pages, locking site visitors into a perpetual loop of
advertisements. |
