A device that connects to a digital
network or broadcast service for the purpose of gathering or distributing
information. After the telephone, the internet-connected pc is still
the most common and useful information appliance. But many new devices to
help people connect to information resources have come on the market or are
being developed that are less bulky and less expensive and offer other
advantages. One example is the personal digital assistant ( pad), which is
capable of making wireless connections to the internet and may be equipped
with powerful processors that are capable of running popular business
