Traditionally, someone whose fascination
for technology over whelms all other pursuits, with all the negative
stereotypes this implies: in short, a nerd. For most of the history of personal
computers the term was derogatory, but geekdom, especially of the internet
variety, has now become stylish. Nearly all the people who have built
high-profile internet businesses are geeks of one kind or another; evidence,
perhaps, that the geek shall indeed inherit the earth. |
