A mechanism or strategy for preventing
access to specific kinds of online information, usually that deemed
to be objectionable by the people who enforce it. Blocking
software is probably the most widely used form of Content
filtering, but several other kinds exist. Company firewalls,
especially, are often routinely configured to prevent employee access to
particular websites or kinds of material and to filter out incoming
e-mail that contains objectionable words or links to external
websites. |
